The Stonehorse Chardonnay is sourced from our estate owned and managed Clare Valley vineyard, which is in the world-renowned subregion of Watervale. VINTAGE The 2025 Clare Valley vintage was shaped by a warm and very dry season. Rainfall was well below average through winter and spring, reducing soil moisture ahead of the growing period and contributing to an early start to growth. Steady warmth through the early months encouraged rapid ripening, and harvest commenced earlier than usual, marking one of the earliest in the region’s history. The season produced grapes with excellent flavour development and natural concentration, delivering quality over quantity in 2025. WINEMAKING Late night machine harvest, returned to the winery and lightly pressed. The juice was cold settled for a week, then racked off with around 5 percent lees retained to build texture and complexity, followed by a 10 day fermentation. Bottled in late July 2025 after eight weeks on lees to further enhance texture. APPEARANCE: Pale straw. BOUQUET: Citrus notes with hints of white stone fruit. PALATE: Elegant palate weight, melon and slight peach and cashew fruit undertones. FOOD MATCH: Chardonnay is versatile and pairs very well with many dishes. It loves anything butter or cream based. Great with soft cheeses and foods that have a toasty flavour from grilling or smoking. Region: Clare Valley Alc/Vol: 13.5%
